The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will lead a team of Manufacturing Engineers developing the assembly and test processes used for building Upwing Energy’s Subsurface Compressor System and Auxiliary products with the upmost level of quality. This position will report to Director of Manufacturing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the manufacturing engineering team to create, maintain and improve the assembly processes and capabilities.
- Ensure quality traceability of builds, rework and refurbished parts.
- Responsible for ensuring builds are made following released technical specifications with traceability and enact measures to correct and prevent re-occurrence of manufacturing issues.
- Ensure work instructions are consistently followed and aligned to product specifications.
- Design and ensure availability of tooling and test rigs.
- Provide technical solutions to a variety of complex build process steps, including strategies to ensure acceptable and stable rotor-dynamic behaviors.
- Support new product introduction through DFM reviews, PFMEA and process planning.
- Manage the manufacturing strategic roadmap.
- Incorporate efficient manufacturing and assembly processes into the design to improve productivity and eliminate quality issues during builds.
- Assist in dispositioning discrepant material and ensuring engineering intent is met in the manufacturing process.
- Ensure resources and skills are available within the team to meet business needs.
Skills, Experience, Education, and Abilities:
- MS degree in a technically relevant field (Manufacturing, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering preferred) or equivalent combination of education/experience.
- A minimum of 12 years progressive and related experience required, including a minimum of 5 years in supervisory roles.
- Demonstrated ability to support hands-on decision making, management and mentoring of technicians and engineers in a highly collaborative environment.
- Familiarity with low volume high complexity manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with ISO9001 or similar quality management system.
- Ability to read prints and familiar with interpretation of GD&T call outs.
- Strong understanding of geometric tolerancing per ASME Y14.5, dimensional stack-ups, inspection procedures and metrology equipment.
- Experience building turbomachinery or high-speed rotating equipment, electric motors, compressors and oil management systems.
- Familiar with creating routers and EBOM in ERP systems; experience with Global Shop is a plus.
- Knowledge of standard manufacturing processes for complex, precision turbo machinery: casting, machining, printing, milling, grinding, rotor balancing, mechanical and electrical assembly, inspection techniques, oil management systems (tubing, fittings, etc.) and pressurized assemblies.
- Experience with NPI of complex equipment.
- Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma, Demand Flow Technology, Lean Manufacturing and ISO 9001 experience.
- Experience configuring manual assembly lines, in-process Kanban’s and visual work instructions is a plus.
- Good interpersonal and interfacing skills (i.e. communicating well with people across different departments both internally and externally).
- Additional computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Position will lead the manufacturing engineering team. Position will be responsible for directing and coordinating activities of others to meet company objectives.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
Time will be split between office and shop floor. Personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, gloves, or masks may be required in some assembly areas. Up to 20% travel will be required as needed for vendor visits/qualifications.
