Upwing Energy Announces New Houston Office & State of the Art Test Facilities Upgrades

HOUSTON – July 5, 2023 – Upwing Energy, the energy-tech innovator and service company specializing in artificial lift for responsibly sourced natural gas, today announced the opening of a new office located in Houston, the World's Energy Capital, as well as significant upgrades to the company's test facilities in Cerritos, California. The upgrades come on the heels of significant growth for Upwing, which has more than doubled in size over the past year and closed a $25M Series C funding round in November 2022.

Upwing's new office located in Katy, Texas, just west of the Energy Corridor in Houston, will provide a substantial base for the company's field operations personnel and a home for technical inventory closer to natural gas wells Upwing is already servicing. The new location includes  both office and warehouse space, complementing Upwing's existing presence in Cerritos, California.

"We're experiencing incredible demand for our technology as the need for both more economical and more sustainable energy extraction skyrockets," said David Biddick, Director of Technical Field Operations at Upwing. "The opening of our office in Houston will centralize our field experts near the gas producing regions of the U.S. As we expand into different regions of the world, we will continue to open centralized locations for ease of operations."

Adding to Upwing's rapid expansion, upgraded test facilities at the Cerritos location will enable more all-condition testing of the company's Subsurface Compressor System™ (SCS), a high-speed downhole compressor system that increases natural gas production and recoverable reserves, empowering operators to meet energy needs in an economically and environmentally sustainable way.

The expansion of the testing facilities includes over 15 updated test stands, which collectively enable the simulation of conditions the SCS experiences downhole. This includes operating the unit with varying pressures, fluid densities, temperatures, flow volumes and particles; simulating controls for different depths; and conducting accelerated life testing on the unit's components and subsystems.

"The establishment of our new Houston facility and enhancement of our test facilities represent significant milestones toward creating sustainable, responsibly sourced natural gas production," said Herman Artinian, President and Chief Executive Officer at Upwing. "Natural gas holds the long-term promise of sustaining our energy ecosystem as demand continues to climb. The technology is here, and we're excited to continue scaling it and making it more accessible to the industry."
