Create and/or update an existing conjugate heat transfer model to represent the design and conditions of a specific application. Validate assumptions and boundary conditions. Predict critical temperatures within the motor to verify acceptable operating conditions. Create and/or update existing fluid models within rotating components to predict windage losses and consequent heat transfer phenomena and temperatures to validate the feasibility of specific rotating machinery designs and operating conditions. Create fluid models to predict pressure losses for given temperature and flow conditions in lubrication circuits. Use proprietary tools and commercial CFD tools to design and predict performance of new compressors to meet the requirements of specific applications. Modeling of bearings with continuous oil feedthrough and internally-generated heat losses, along with heat transfer phenomena to predict bearing race and cage temperatures. Clear communication and documentation of progress and results of assigned analyses for product development teams and management. Requires a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. 24-month work experience as Fluids engineer; research engineer; development engineer or closely related. Computational Fluid Dynamics proficiency with 3D analysis tools like ANSYS Fluent; Strong practical application of engineering fundamentals, including Fluid Mechanics & Dynamics; Demonstrated skill with 1D Thermal tools; Scripting and programming languages such as Python, MATLAB.
