Program Manager

The Program Manager owns all aspects of various program schedules, resources, on time project execution, cross functional alignment among teams and suppliers to ensure an on-time delivery, within scope, budget and of desired quality. They collaborate at a strategic level with the management team to define the scope, requirements, and vision of the program. The Program Manager works to ensure that development processes are followed and improved as needed. The Program Manager is the voice of the project and is responsible for giving updates to key stakeholders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive on-time, on-budget and on-quality execution of program(s)
  • Interact with the engineering and manufacturing teams to help create future roadmap and assure current execution aligns with vision of the program
  • Identify, manage and communicate program risks
  • Create, maintain, and track budget for program(s) and work with the VP of Operations to create overall company budget plan and provide monthly budget reports
  • Coordinate with Supply Management to ensure RFQ’s and PO’s are issued to meet program deliverables
  • Ensure supplier and customer deliverables are on time and on budget
  • Monitor progress and update key stakeholders with status of program(s)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to organize all aspects of program and assure teams are aligned and resources are level loaded to achieve project milestones and release dates
  • Coordinate with key team members that product field deployments are on schedule
  • Work with Functional Managers to help staff the programs for success
  • Own and improve product development processes and ensure development teams are aligning to existing development process
  • Schedule and manage program phase gate design reviews
  • Oversee execution by engaging frequently with the engineering and manufacturing teams and suppliers, facilitating cross functional team discussions, and identifying timely program impediments and risks
  • Identify and achieve sustainable goals
  • Influence decision making and problem solving across cross-functional and development teams

Skills, Experience, Education, and Abilities:

  • Required BS degree in a technical field (Manufacturing, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering preferred) or equivalent combination of education/experience
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in new product development
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in a Program/Project Manager role
  • Prior experience as a Functional Manager, Team Lead, Technical Lead or Technical Product Manager is a plus
  • Familiar with creating ERP system BOM’s & Routers, experience with Global Shop is a plus
  • Industry experience in rotating equipment
  • Knowledge of standard manufacturing processes for complex, precision turbo machinery: casting, machining, milling, grinding, rotor balancing, mechanical and electrical assembly, inspection techniques, oil management systems (tubing, fittings, etc.) and pressurized assemblies
  • Good interpersonal and interfacing skills a plus (i.e. communicating well with people across different departments both internally and externally, resolving conflicts, leading teams and mentoring team members)
  • Risk management mindset and the ability to lead multiple programs with strong attention to strategy, implementation and delegation
  • Demonstrated initiative to explore alternative technology and approaches to solving problems
  • Exceptional organizational skills, able to manage multiple work streams effectively and provide timely updates
  • Additional computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project

Physical Demands / Workplace Environment:

Time will be split between office and shop floor.  Personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, gloves, or masks may be required in some assembly areas.
